On January 12 I'll be playing a solo show at Carrollton Station in new Orleans. Originally I was going to do allseven solo releases in sequence but a friend pointed out that the show would be five or six hours long if I played every song that I've released so I'll be hitting my favorites and hopefully yours. If you live in Baltimore, Chicago, St. louis, the Carolinas or Va. then think about getting out of the cold weather for a weekend in New Orleans. Mardi Gras will be kicking off with the Krewe DeVieux parading in the Marigny that night then you can head to the Station for some songs and stories. Kick off the new year doing something just to have a little fun, it sets a good tone for the year. peace, love and jazz fest Paul |

Re: gigs
Not sure we'll make it for this one but I'll certainly be on the look-out for airfare deals. :) I think you should totally do a show where you play all of your albums back to back. That would be really fun and funny too! Just play 'em fast and you could be done in more like 4-5 hours. haha! |

Re: gigs
If the Carolina crew makes it for the show it could happen. All seven, in order. I'll play everything at double time ad we'll be out before dawn. peace, love and jazz fest Paul |

Poppy: Since you titled this tread "gigs" what are you playing in February at a Hornets game? National anthem? Halftime? Sorry if I took this in a different direction. |

I'm playing before the game. They have bands play as the crowd comes in. should be interesting and I get to go to the game for free. peace, love and jazz fest Paul |

Re: gigs
the gauntlet has been thrown. joy and phil, you made it in august, you can do it again next month. it'll be worth it. and paul, i am throwing down the gauntlet to you to beat the infamous 4+ christmas show from back in 2001. the mark miller-jim mccormick-peabody-etc gig last night almost touched on this record, but you still own it. let's see if you can smash your own record. you know, that reminds me. you at least have to do between friends, as "between myself" seems to have fallen off the to-do list. :) |

Notice the invite was to the Carolina crew so if we're throwing gauntlets we're throwing them all over the place. peace, love and jazz fest Paul |

Re: gigs
Throw a gauntlet at DC too; I'd love to go to a 7 hour show. Don't forget, in addition to playing all your albums there are also some covers I'm sure folks would like to hear, so tack on another hour why don't you? You would hear no complaints from me. Plus the holidays brought me some new recording equipment (that hopefully will actually work) so I could share responsibilities with Jeff. :) |

Re: gigs
I'm throwing the gauntlet to anyplace cold, come to New Orleans where even if it's gets cold you can be drunk enough not to notice and you become one of us. i think the folks in DC need to hook up with the folks in the Carolinas and do a convoy down to New Orleans. then we challenge the mid west to run a convoy, then we have something going on. peace, love and jazz fest Paul |

A train ride of people going down to have a weekend in New Orleans, that sounds like so much fun I might fly up and ride down with you. It could be a new thing Train Concerts. peace, love and jazz fest Paul |

Re: gigs
OK, I just made it to Charlotte (I got to stop every 30 min to take a walk and relax my back!, and Joy is excited about train convoys to NOLA. I love you guys. Really, I do. But we all know how Becca will feel about the train.... Would we invite the strippers to the train concert? Thoughts? |

Re: gigs
I looked it up. It takes 18 hours on the train from Charlotte to NO and that is only if everything is time, which never ever happens. So I'm pretty sure you could play all your albums back to back at super slow speed .... then you'd still have time to play every song you know about trains too. Phil ... practice calling in sick. Jen, Sandy and Becca ... time to stock up on vitamin water. Jeff .... better buy some minidiscs. Do you think there is a career in being "Train Concert Sound Guy"? |

Re: gigs
Wow... you sign off for a day... :) The Crescent route is a looooooooooooong ride; I've looked into it. :) Even more appropriately, the folks from the place with the big shoulders can take the City of New Orleans, which will take them from Chicago to New Orleans in a quick trip of 19ish hours. Or Southwest has cheap flights. :) |

a train concert sounds awesome! let's hire the kind of strippers that sanitize the poles before they jump on them. |
