Sat night @ Carrollton Station

Paul will be playing solo acoustic at Carrollton Station in New Orleans this Saturday night (1/12). I asked Paul how long he planed to play. He replied,
"til either me or the audience drops." I took that to mean he'd be playing for a while. For directions, etc, go to www.carrolltonstation.com. Hope to see you.

Have a great night Paul - I am sure it'll be another record marathon performance.

I'm so jealous! Have fun everyone! I'll be happy to make a torrent again... :)

My Saturday evening will likely be spent falling asleep on the couch in front of the Patriots game. :)

You've got to love a man who plays until he or the audience drops. Only in New Orleans.....Wish I was there.

Re: Sat night @ Carrollton Station

yes. i already told paul saturday night that if we're the last two standing, it's gonna be an even longer night, cuz i'm not going down. :)

as far as torrent...my motherboard on desktop (re: ftp) is dead until prob around mardi gras...and if it comes back around mardi gras, then it's not gonna be reborn until after mardi gras. :)

Re: Sat night @ Carrollton Station

GREAT long show. paul lived up to his promise, and could've and should've gone further.

for those keeping score...

2001: 4 hours, 3 minutes, 31 seconds
2008: 4 hours, 5 minutes, 54 seconds.

we did it. barely, but we did it. i'm still up. we really coulda gone til dawn. and so could've most of the audience, most of whom were newbies, believe it or not. welcome, whoever you were.

beetlejuice, beetlejuice, beetlejuice. ;)

Re: Sat night @ Carrollton Station

Great show as always. My only complaint was that as I approached Carrollton Station at about 10:20 (music shows in NOLA NEVER start on time, or so I thought) I could already hear Paul playing. Thanks again Paul.

Re: Sat night @ Carrollton Station

I wanted to thank the folks that came out to the Station on Saturday. Playing for four plus hours is a joy for me and it takes the co-operation of the audience. It takes some folks willing to listen and stay, thanks for doing both.

Re: Sat night @ Carrollton Station

Paul, at 4 hours plus your shows are topping the Boss's old shows! You are getting better with age (maybe there's hope for me yet). Looking forward to a 4 hour show at Iota this spring (we can do this by dumping any thought of a warm-up band)! It was probably dangerous to throw mention of a 4 hour show into a public forum. Expectations have suddenly soared.

Cheers WV Mike!

And have I mentioned I have a DAT now? I don't think I've said anything about it yet... ;)

Re: Sat night @ Carrollton Station

I don't know if DC or the Iota Cafe really want four straight hours of songs stories and laughs but I'll be sure to give as much as they'll take.

Is that a challenge, Poppy?

Re: Sat night @ Carrollton Station

No, not a challenge. i just know audiences in new Orleans a bit better. Trust me if I have a roomful of people willing to listen I can go all night.

just make sure you have a comfy chair. don't want you to have to wrap up the show cuz your ass is starting to hurt. :)

Re: Sat night @ Carrollton Station

Poppy -

As I recall.....the first show at Iota was almost three hours and the second was not much shorter even though they were on "school nights" and no one was leaving early. So I think four hours is the least you could do next time.

Looking forward to being in NOLA for the first weekend of Jazzfest and then the next show at Iota in May.

Re: Sat night @ Carrollton Station

You might have to start earlier, depending on how late Iota is licensed for.

hee ~ I forget sometimes the rest of the country has rules that legislate what hours you can keep for your own business.

Re: Sat night @ Carrollton Station

Well if Iota kicks us out we live about half a mile from there and our apartment is open all hours! Our neighbors may hate us, but we're moving at the end of May anyway so :P

I even have Purple Haze in my fridge that I've been saving for a special occasion. :)

Re: Sat night @ Carrollton Station

It's why I dig hanging on Frenchmen Street so many great clubs in a three block area, music pouring out of every door, the bar closes when the there are no more customers to serve and you can walk from club to club with your cocktail in hand listening to different bands often having to pay no more then the tip jar.
I'm more then a little use our way of life which is why i'm certain i can play for four hours in New Orleans, everywhere else in the country, I'll play it by ear.
peace, love and jazz fest,
Paul
