I would like to thank everyone who came out to help me on the programs. Both programs were great successes. I've heard nothing but good coments from the teachers and students at the schools.
We have been invited back next year to both schools,with a chance to expand on what we did.
I've been talking to the teacher from Hagerstown, and if we can work things out what she would like to do is take a field trip to come see us in camp at Wilson farm on the Friday before we do our Sharpsburg preservation march.
At the school in Hanover, each year they do a Civil War day with Confederate, Federal and Civilian impressions. That have different stations where gruops of students visit. Each group stays for 30 minutes. This year we had on station. I talked to the teacher in charge and he agreed to let us have two stations next year so we have more time to cover our subjects. ( this year we split the time between talking about the uniform and life of the soldier on campaign, and the battle flag and causes of the war) |
