IAMS TESTIRA svoju hranu NA PSIMA I MAČKAMA u NEHUMANIM laboratorijskim uslovima. Psi 'žive' kratko i u užasnim uslovima, pod stalnim stresom i u strahou...Život u kavezima smarta se životom u nenormalnim uslovima- te sa sigurnošću proizvođači ne mogu tvrditi da je takva hrana koja je testirana na psima koji žive u ovako nehumanim uslovima pogodna za Vašeg kućnog psa (ili macu) .. Testiranje hrane u kućnim uslovima mnogo je sigurnije- jer veterinari prate kako se pas razvija i kako podnosi hranu u prirodnim uslovima, što laboratorijski uslovi ne dozvoljavaju. Iams/Eukanuba- testira još uvek laboratorijski na psima (živim) i macama (iako smo u 21. veku!!) zato što ne žele da investiraju u novu opremu koja ne podrazumeva žive jedinke na kojima bi bilo testirano, takodje ne želi da prenese testiranje hrane u kućne uslove- jer bi morali da promene čitav sistem i da zatvore postojeće laboratorije...sto bi bio veliki finansijski poduhvat. MOLIMO VAS, NEMOJTE KUPOVATI HRANU KOJA JE U PUTEM SVOJEG NASTAJANJA UBILA NA STOTINE PASA SAMO DA BI VAŠ PAS MOGAO DA JEDE. AKO BI VAŠ PAS ZNAO ŠTA SVE NJEGOVI DRUGARI PREŽIVLJAVAJU I U KAKVIM MUKAMA UMIRU, I ONI BI SAMI ODABRALI DA BOJKOTUJU IAMS.

October 2, 2007 --- All of the dead animals in California are added to the feed of chicken, fish, beef, shrimp, etc.,which we humans eat every day. Virtually all of the animals killed in shelters and veterinary clinics,road kill, medical laboratories, feed lots, deceased wildlife, etc., are sent to one company, West Coast Rendering in Vernon, CA, where they are piled up and left to decompose for days before being “rendered” into a sale-able product.
“Rendering means that these dead animals are cooked in a giant stew pot for an hour, at just above boiling, and then the fat is drained off this soup and put in drums for shipment to cattle feed facilities in California and elsewhere,” said Leo Grillo, founder of the largest care-for-life cat & dog sanctuary in the world, D.E.L.T.A. Rescue, of Glendale, CA, “the rest is ground up into a powder and loaded by tractor into either a container or an open grain truck, which is later used for grain and feed transport.”
“Our D.E.L.T.A. Rescue Humane Investigation Unit followed trucks to American companies where the powder, now called ‘protein meal,’ is added to farm-animal feed. We also followed containers to the ports where they are loaded for shipment to Asia ... to be added to feed for the farmed fish and seafood that comes back to the United States and is sold in our supermarkets. Check the labels of the seafood in the stores: ‘product of Thailand, Vietnam, etc.’”
Los Angeles County has contracted to provide its dead animals to the same rendering plant for decades. Four years ago, when Grillo informed the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors of where their own Los Angeles County Animal Control’s dead animals were going, the Supervisors were divided. Some said that they didn’t know about it, but did nothing; others said that this practice is perfectly legal.
Grillo continued, “What lawmakers need to realize is that these dead bodies, along with all their cancers and other diseases, viruses, veterinary treatments, experimental laboratory drugs, chemotherapies, toxins and bacteria from decomposition, are being fed to us. Yet we still wonder where all OUR cancer is coming from.
And ‘chronic wasting disease’ in deer, which are also rendered, is caused by the same virus as ‘mad cow disease!’ Does that tell you something? And if you’re a vegetarian, don’t think you’re safe: dairy and egg producers eat these same dead animals, and fertilizer used at vegetable farms contains the same ‘animal by-products.’With the rash of food-borne diseases in America lately, it is clear that we are being poisoned by the food we eat.”

WASHINGTON — An industrial chemical that led to the nationwide recall of more than 100 brands of cat and dog food has turned up in a second pet food ingredient imported from China.

toothpaste (antifreeze chemical found), 60 million cans of dog and cat food (contaminated with an ingredient from China), frozen fish (mislabeled, contained deadly puffer fish), Chinese shrimp, catfish, eel, basa and dace (with residues of antibiotics the FDA does not allow), cough syrup (blamed for a 100 deaths in Panama), 1.5 million wooden railway toys (lead paint again), children's necklaces and earrings (lead), snack food seasoning (contaminated with salmonella), 450,000 tires (lost their treads on roads). Isn't this enough? How much longer will we be putting ourselves, our children and our pets in danger? End all Chinese imports! Boycott Made In China.

Šta je to rendering plant?
Tisuće mrtvih mačaka i pasa (eutaniziranih iz veterinarskih stanica, raznih laboratorijskih pokusa, s ulica itd.), glave i papci stoke; ovce, svinje, konji, tvorovi, štakori, rakuni plus milijuni crva koji plaze po leševima, zatim otpad od peradi, ostaci pokvarenih mesnih proizvoda iz trgovina prešaju se u velikoj čeličnoj jami te se kuhaju prvo na 90, pa na 270 stupnjeva, pri čemu se dehidriraju i izdvaja se mast.
Nakon toga masa se melje u prah, izbacuje se krzno i dlaka životinja te veći komadi kostiju. Proces se provodi 24 sata dnevno 7 dana u tjednu bez prestanka.
Rezultat procesa su uglavnom tri grupe proizvoda: reciklirano meso u prahu, mast i kosti u prahu (s komadićima).
I što s tim sada? Pa, Američki veterinarski institut kaže: 'Reciklirano meso i kosti u prahu koriste se kao izvor proteina i drugih nutricionističkih sastojaka u prehrani peradi, svinja, stoke, ovaca, ribe i u hrani za kućne ljubimce. Mast se također daje životinjama kao izvor dodatne energije.'
Samo u SAD-u godišnje se proizvede oko 20 milijuna tona recikliranog mesa. Prema statistikama USDA-a iz 1991. godine, proizvodi rendering plant-a koriste se u slijedećim postocima:
* 34% u hrani za kućne ljubimce
* 34% u hrani za perad
* 20% za svinje
* 10% za stoku, koji su u porastu!
U proces recikliranja preko otrovane stoke ulaze također i pesticidi, insekticid Dursban, antibiotici, preko riba DDT i drugi organski fosfati koji su nataloženi u tijelu riba, zatim otrovi od eutanazije, insekticidi od deratizacije, plastična ambalaža pokvarenog mesa iz trgovina, ogrlice kućnih ljubimaca, kirurške igle, pincete i sl. što su teški metali jer nije ekonomski isplativo sve to izdvajati.
Što se tiče zakonske strane, vlada je upoznata u potpunosti sa industrijom recikliranja mesa, ali s obzirom na opseg mesne prehrambene industrije, zakoni su samoregulirajući od strane industrije tj. sami ih donose i sprovode. Ipak, postoje i sanitarni inspektori koji u recikliranom mesu provjeravaju nivo fosfora, kalcija i proteina, ALI NE I KOLIČINU TOKSINA!! Osim toga,. u Kaliforniji, primjerice, hranu koju jede 30 mil. ljudi kontrolira samo 8 inspektora!

Pet Products May Be Hazardous To Your Pets

There are few events more distressing than the injury or death of a pet. Psychologists have likened it to the death of a family member.
After the recent pet food contamination that killed some pets and made many others sick, worldwide attention focused on making sure pet products are SAFE. Can you honestly trust most manufactures to do that for you?
Products we normally use on our pets – shampoos, odor eliminators, etc. – may create health concerns for our pets just as they can impact our health. Toxic synthetic chemicals used in personal care products are also used in pet care formulas. When scientific studies show these ingredients cause cancer, heart disease, hormone disruption and other aging diseases in humans, the tests on animals generally have the same results.
We need to be aware that chemical ingredients cost pennies and profits are huge, so incentives to inform consumers may be missing. Our pets’ live! s are more important than that. I, for one, am willing to spend more to protect my pets and extend the quality of their lives.
Living on a ranch presents a host of unique problems every day. Our horses, dogs and cats are exposed to more things that require greater care than you can imagine. So, I have had the opportunity to identify a variety of solutions for these four-legged loved ones. That includes protecting them from various problems in the environment, small critters and the irresponsible actions of two-legged creatures as well.
Here is what I have learned:
Shampooing is a major effort that can be very messy. Putting your dog in the bathtub or shower isn’t exactly fun for them or you. I recommend using a safe, ToxicFree® pet shampoo. Remember, you are applying it all over their body and most of the time it is not all rinsed out of their hair. So you’ll want one without harmful ingredients or drying agents that will irritate their skin. Find a nat! ural, organic shampoo without synthetic chemicals that can affect your pet’s overall health. It may cost a few pennies more per application, but the safety of our pets is worth it.
Can you imagine having your pet sprayed by a skunk? It’s the worst smell and it lingers for days! Our dogs have greeted us with this unpleasant odor and it nearly drives us out of the house. We use an oxygen-based odor eliminator to neutralize the worst pet odors safely. I recommend you look for products with NO artificial fragrance. Synthetic fragrance is toxic for pets and humans. These petroleum-based ingredients settle and hover about 12” off the floor where pets and babies (if you have any) spend a lot of time – walking and crawling through non-biodegradable toxins!
As an informed consumer, you can make effective, healthy choices –for yourself AND your pets. I recommend you avoid the following at all cost:
• Sodium laureth sulfate: ethoxylated cleanser found in most sham! poos - may contain dioxane, which is banned by the California Safe Cosmetic Act.
• DEA (diethanolamine): carcinogenic foaming agent; significant risk to children (National Toxicology Program; FDA Office of Cosmetic Fact Sheets)
• Propylene glycol: can cause brain, liver and kidney abnormalities (Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry)
• Parabens (methyl, propyl, butyl, ethyl): xeno-estrogens which may contribute to sterility and hormone imbalances (Brunel University)
• Fragrance (usually contain phthalates): highly toxic; can affect central nervous system (Environmental Health Network; FDA Office of cosmetics Fact Sheet).

Nakon niza prijavljenih slučajeva o zatajenju bubrega i povraćanja kod pasa i mačaka i deset smrtnih slučajeva koji su se dogodili kao posljedica hranjenja kućnih ljubimaca hranom vodećeg američkog proizvođača hrane za pse i mačke Menu Foods, s tržišta je povučeno 60 miliona kontejnera tih proizvoda.
‘U ovom trenutku nismo sto posto sigurni što se dogodilo’, rekao je Paul Henderson, predsjednik Menu Foodsa. Vjerojatno je riječ o novom kobnom sastojku. Povučeni proizvodi, naime, sadrže pšenični gluten od jednog novog dobavljača, objasnila je glasnogovornica Sarah Tuite.
S tržišta je povučena ‘vlažna’ hrana tj. komadići mesa u konzervama ili folijama, koja je u razdoblju od 3. novembra 2006. do 6. marta distribuirana u prodavaonice širom SAD-a, Kanade i Meksika.
Između ostalih, ta se hrana za ljubimce prodavala u trgovačkim centrima kao što su Kroger, Safeway, Wal-Mart, i Petsmart.
