More from your Forum

OK folks, the time has come for you all to get down and dirty with some html gobbledygook so you can get more out of the forum; specifically so you can:

1) Post a proper link to another web site page

2) Insert a picture into your posting

3) Insert a video clip into your posting.

Please be aware that most forums (including ours) are monitored for content so best avoid anything which will have an adverse effect on granny's corsets! We're looking for items relevant to Mammoth Lifestyle and its customers.

Linking to another site's page

Copy the code below and paste it into your posting (preferably starting on a line on its own).

When you preview it (always a good idea to check what you have done) it should look like this.

Click Here to see the new S-Works SL2

When you click on the appropriate place it should take you to the Specialized S-Works page.
This is just a sample. To tailor it for yourselves, substitute the text between the quote marks for the full web address of the page you want to link to and change the text starting "Click Here" and ending "SL2" to text you want. Now preview and try it.

Inserting a picture into your posting

Copy the code below and paste it into you posting as above.

When you preview the posting, it should look like this.

This is just a sample and the text between the quote marks is the full web address and name of the picture shown.

You need to know the URL (web address) of the picture you want to show so you can substitute it for the sample text. You may have uploaded the photo to a picture site (eg MySpace) in which case the URL shown at the top of your browser when you browse and select the picture may not be the one seen by the outside world. You will need to view picture and show its properties (right button click on the mouse) where the URL should be the one you want. Sites such as MyFace are quite straightforward at handling the pictures you want to upload from your computer.

Inserting a video clip into your posting

The coding for this will change depending on the site you have uploaded your video clip to so it is available to the outside world. I have shown below two of the most likely places, MySpace and YouTube.

MySpace example

Paste this code in your posting and it should look like this

The "22374915" is the id number of the video clip on MySpace. When you view your clip this id number will be shown in the URL at the top of your browser. This is the number you substitute to show your clip in the posting.

YouTube example

Paste this code and it should look like this

Here, the "sKCSGbWbPyE" is the video id, and this id will appear as part of the URL of your clip on YouTube. You have to identify this id and substitute it in the code.
