Mammoth Challenge summer night Enduro, Any Body ready for a challenge!
Hi just before chirstmas I made an early posting for interest in 2008`s Mammoth challenge. Last year saw 100 km covered, and several of use who collected funds for charity raised over £1300 for the Birmingham City Childrens Hospital. However a lot of people dropped out as the ride was too long. This year it is going to be different. To keep the essence of a challenge the distance will be dropped to 50 miles. we will start at darkness the first weekend in June on the Saturday night - ride for 30mile where there will be a stategically placed campstie where we will have set up for a BBQ.During the time of the BBQ we will have the facility to recharge both lights and body, and after a two hour lunch break start out on the final 20mile.We will be finished before first light. Please note this is not a organised race, and is just a challeging bit of social fun to replace where peolpe would normally veg with the other half, go out for a meal, visit a nightclub, or just be plain lazy. Please ask Gary Foord, Andy, or get details of how to contact ME from behind the counter, to find out more detail. Some of us will be collecting funds for Birmingham City Childrens Hospital, and there will also be commemorative T shirts available BEFORE the ride. We will also ask for a little help towards the food and SOFT drink which will be available, and also the recharging facilities of the night lights(anyone wanting alcohol is happy to bring it along and consume at their own leasure). Also available will be some powerfull off road night riding lights, again to be organised by Gary or myself if you wish to borrow. So come on have a go at night riding in the summer. do a little bit of a challenging ride, meet up with some of the other like minded fellows, possibly even help in the collecting of fundraising, but most of all have a good saturday night out thats a little more unusual!

What dates exactly? 1st June is a Sunday so first weekend in June is 7/8.

Is this likely to be the only event of its kind this summer? I said in the previous post earlier in the year that I was definitely up for doing it. Unfortunately the 1st week/weekend in June is the only week I’m unavailable as I’m working away. (Just my luck!  )Kev |

Hello mark, Yes me and anne will be there for your "Charity" ride. I'll get a form of you as and when The date you were thinking of was the night of the 7th june i think you were saying. Kevin S. There are various night rides done all through the year. Wed nights 6pm from mammoth is a regular one. Mark does a very early dawn raid most saturday mornings - (3am ish i think ?) Failing that there are also two groups that regularly ride from the milford common area on tuesday nights and thursday nights about the 7pm mark. BUt there is always some one heading out most days etc If you have a particular date in mind drop down on a wednesday and we'll see if we can arrange some thing to fit in . . . . Si |

Sounds like seriously good fun. I’m definitely up for it I’ll need to borrow some of those lights you mentioned; can I reserve some in advance? (I assume we’re talking about an off-road route across the Chase) |

Just to add guys, and gals. If you are interested. Dont forget to get the full details - a sponsor form would be nice, and the main reason for this addition, dont forget to pre-book your food before the night - wouldnt want Veg`s or the health concious being offended by the choice of food available. Also to try on for size the commemorative T before purchase. Andy should have some sample sizes available soon.
