wed night ride 14th may
Hello to one and all. Usual shout out for the wed night mtn bike ride from mammoth. Start about 6.15pm Usual snack break - jellies, coffe & whiskey etc. Dark about 21.00hrs so 1hr burn will be plenty for your lights. Mammoth might have some demos if you want to give it a whirl. The chase has dried up loads since the other week. Its getting fast again . . . . . A bit of interest on some of the dusty corners and plenty of cobbles to collect. I might even have to up the ratio on the single speed to keep up with the geared bikes . . . Forcast is for more sun and heat this week. You might even need some sun block ? See you about Si |

Having got toasted on the 'tart' bike (road) yesterday I think a little sunblock will be required. 10am-4pm are the strongest times anyway. Singlespeed for me this week, so I'll be even slower than last week

Should be there, thinking will be changing back to nice summer tyres...no drag and with extra sun cream, might even beable to give F.B the slip. Julie if you read this post, why don't you come out too, I promise I will keep a good tight lead on F.B more the welcome.See Yoll later..Fill your boots man!

Good to hear that you have ditched those guards Vince, now just convince GPS to do the same .Sparky, your fitness has certainly improved. On the evidence of all SS I will have to convert my XTC to a single speed to improve my speed See you at the shop

Hi Chop, If your Giant XTC has the same dimensions to my Giant Escape M1 frame then a 36/18 setup should fit really nicely with no need for a tensioner (while the chain is in good nick). |

Hey Gem thanks for your kind invitation. i definitely want to come out to play and have been wanting to for ages, but my technical skills are still a bit crap, and also i have no lights! Maybe i come out for few hours and then go home when it starts to get dark? (i'll be able to find my way if someone points me in the right direction) hope to see you soon. julie x |

hi Si thanks for offering and yes i'd like to borrow your light, but not having lights was gonna be my get out clause should i not be able to keep up or be absolutely knackered! (even though that may be within the first hour)! see you tomorrow. julie |

Hi Chop - yes the gay gards are off, the sun glasses are on -BUT FOR HOW LONG? Ms 1cm dont worry I will be there with you at the rear, and have a very good knowledge of the chase so shouldnt get lost. I am on my single speed tomorrow - its called grany gear. Why pay for all those gears if you dont use them especially the little ones.

36/18 was all the Mammoth had. It's still the magic 2:1 ratio. |

Yep good ride, total of 12 of us out last night, including stef! for one hour or so...well done Stef, those tyres were a little amusing and very interesting down some of the single track Nice to see some newbies out to. I won't be out next week due to family commitments so you don't have to mind your manners next week.....oh yeah you don't anyway! Till next time...FILL YR BOOTS MAN! Blondie

Next week is a change from the usual ride. Next weeks ride will be a normal singlespeed singletrack event combined with a treasure hunt. I will be filling my car with valuables and the first one to find my keys will be able to unlock the treasure.

thanks for the chance to ride out with you guys. Most fun. But hey, you guys had plenty more rubber on your tyres than my 1.25" slicks. Thoroughly recommended for tree huggers & power sliders. Till next time . . . |
