Evening League Road Race 29th May
The Evening Road Race League relies on member clubs helping in the organisation, ie signing on, issuing numbers, lead and following vehicles and marshalling junctions. The event on Thursday 29th is the responsibility of non-affiliated riders and business-based clubs. That means us!! We need about six volunteers for whatever job the organiser needs doing. The event starts at 7 pm and is on the Huntington circuit. I will be there and I'm sure my better half will help as well! Let me know if you are available and I will keep you informed of meeting times etc.

I'm marshalling, or doing one of the cars, or testing the champers, or collating number pins..... !

I have posted on Stafford Tri forum. I am sure it will cause a reaction. However, it is what I believe. I find it a little ironic that our friendly Monday night ride had to have a risk assessment and local club riders suggested we could be sued if there was an accident, yet we seem ready to jump blindly into the marshalling responsibility of a local road race. I am personally not prepared to associate myself with that. Has anyone looked into the consequence of fullfilling this role at all? There are many ways of supporting an event that are far closer to each individuals capabilities. I don't agree with marshalling simply to tick a box. Bluntly, I think it is irresponsible of the organiser to ask for this provision. Gary. |
