Sony - good or Bad!!!
Maybe this is the news that we have been waiting to hear, or is it? Ok, part of the deal is that they HAVE GOT TO record an album of covers, but why not record the tracks that have become live favourites? Will the south be dictated to for all 3 years or will paul + co be able to continue putting out the excellent stuff that they have done so to date???

Yeah, I`m a little unsure about this album of covers thing - but maybe the idea is to do it so as to get them back into commercial-success territory. Gaze was terrific and I don`t know if the lack of airplay its singles had was down to Mercury or that the have had their time, commercially. Sony must think they`ve still got legs, and Gaze proved they still cut it in terms of quality - so hopefully this cover album WILL put them back in the limelight. I`m very happy we`re gonna have three more albums from them, after the commercial crash of the last one, I feared that might be it!

The contract is apparently for three years, not three albums. The way TBS seem to work, after the covers album, who knows how long they'll go on. I am one of those people who is appalled at the idea of a covers album, I never thought they'd stoop so low, so imo it's time to quit - sorry...... |

Yeah I agree Gavin, I'm waiting until I hear it to give my opinion too! I am interested though to see in which direction their 'covers' album will go.

The covers album isnt really a worry, it's the fact that they are recording song originally by The Ramones + The B****y Smiths??? Ok, the covers that they play live are pretty good seeing as their last effort wasnt the worst ocver that we have heard. Is it? I suppose it could be worse, they could be covering King Crimson! |

Sony Records? their terrible, all they do with most of their bands is grab them of the street, record a demo then let some random epople listent o it ans servey it around with polls..if it comes up good they record an album, give them some random manager and then over publisise the record...sony suck? im sure i aint read anything right and im off topic tho..

after reading what Paul has to say about the covers, it's plain to see that he(they) was forced to do that and that he speaks without great or any at all enthusiasm about it. i heard those 30sec tracks, i liked it...specially 'Reaper' (but i dont understand why the first single gonna be 'Livin' Thing' -- its so slow and catchy-less..) but the idea is still embarrassing -- TBS feel like and gonna look like -- no matter how great songs will turnout to be -- the wedding musicians :( it's all just wrong...like, "i was forced to do this stuff, dont really like it, but since i'm a good musician it's not that bad really--buy my singles" not good. period. WHY O WHY SONY wants The South them to humiliate themselves. i am sorry for the lads and lady Wheeler... will buy the cd, probably, anyway |

and thats why (my WHY is stated below) they gave the album such a ""cool"" name. so it wouldnt look that cliched and cheap |
