I often think of my "incidents" with Sgt Majors-No disrespect to any of us who may have reached eclesiastical Ranks!! Sgt. Majors, Wo-1,s and II,s CPO,s etc-I think how gloriously glib their tongues-they certainly had the gift and historically came out with the best!
Does anyone from any branch of the Services recall any cute sayings?- I met several -including RSM Brittain and his ilk!
One I recall on some infamous parade square -screaamed at me -ME-I ask you:
"I,ll kick you so hard -you,ll go so high in the sky-when you come back your uniform will be out of date!!" How could anyone drill properly after that!
Another one -[An RSM -Grenadier Guards-YES -at ME-again!!]" You,re enough to make the Virgin Mary cry-BUT -I will make YOU cry Sonny boy!-tears of Khaki Green No 83"!!-He! He! Or was it 93!! I forget -Sounds and words that,ll live with me forever!-Jack.
