Hi Lauren,
This is a difficult question. Basically bring things personally important to you as you can buy just about everything you will need in Benin. There are a lot of other posts in this formum as well as on www.Fon-is-Fun.org. I'll post this to the Friends of Benin list server to see if anyone wants to add anything.
