Re: treating drinking water

PC says to always boil it for 10 minutes. Most volunteers do this maybe once and then they say "forget it!" because it's such a pain. The alternative is to make a filter using ceramic filters placed in a bucket. It's not as good as boiling but it seemed to work ok for me. You can bring a backpacking hand pump filter but only use this for when you travel because it's too slow for every day use at home. In case you were wondering most volunteers get their water from collected rain water (from cisterns), or from wells. The city dwellers will get tap water usually carried in from a communal tap.

- How did you treat water in the rural areas? Where does the water come from?
