Visas for neighboring countries
Hello!
On the subject of visitors... I just recently got paperwork from PC that makes it sound like getting visas for visitors is an arduous process and should be started 6 months in advance. Once in-country, how easy/difficult is it to get visas to visit neighboring countries? I just met a doctor from Togo who informed me that Lome used to be the resort town in that region and is only about an hour from Cotonou by car. Any regional travel tips or not-to-be-missed destinations?
(I'm excited about being in Benin too! This info is more for my friends and family who would love to visit 
- as for Benin, I was told that I should definitely go to Ouidah - has anyone gone?)
