Re: Female RPCV's.

I served in Benin from 1989 - 1991 - a bit has changed since then so the availability of products may have changed as well. However, I would suggest bringing a two year supply of your feminine hygiene product of choice. What they have in country (yes, only in the big cities) is very expensive and I don't recall seing "familiar brands". Beninese women use rags wrapped around beads (imagine a neclace for your waist with a towel connected in the middle at the front and back of the necklace) so there is not much of a demand for feminine protection.

I also brought a two year supply of dedorant - and I am happy I did. Though others didn't care about this as much.

I am leaving in June and had a question for female RPCV's that served in Benin, what is the availability of feminine care products in country, are they only available in the larger cities? I know they must be used throughout the country, but I don't know if I need to bring a lot with me or wait until I am there.
