I am descended from my maternal grandparents J. Andrew DeRoche (from the Tignish area on P.E.I.) and M. Sarah Fillis (from Grand Desert, Halifax County, N.S.) who met in Rumford, Maine, and lived in Brewer, Maine, where I was born and grew up. Most of my information came from Father Melanson's "Genealogies of the families of Chezzetcook, N.S." and he has guessed at some of the marriages, so I am using those as only clues of possible family ties. The Desroches information beyond J. Andrew and his father, Etienne (Steven) came from the Tignish bicentennial project on the "Eight Founding Families".
