BO DIDDLEY blues trail marker now unveiled on-line

The Mississippi Blues Commission has updated its Mississippi Blues Trail webpages with a printable area map, photographs, album sleeves, song lyrics and the text of the BO DIDDLEY Blues Marker, unveiled on Friday November 2nd 2007 at a ceremony attended by BO DIDDLEY and family members in his home town of McComb.

At the unveiling of the tall, blue-and-white two-sided cast marker at McComb's Railroad Depot pavilion, BO DIDDLEY proudly looked up at the marker and said it was beautiful. "Love it, love it", he said. "Thank you, thank you".

Asked by reporters what it felt like to be honored in his home town, BO DIDDLEY said it meant "everything" to him.

Creating the Mississippi Blues Trail is one of the Mississippi Blues Commission's primary projects. The Mississippi Blues Trail will be composed of more than 100 historical markers and interpretive sites located throughout the State.

A distinguished panel of historians and blues scholars has developed an inventory of the most notable sites. Each will be indentified with a distinctive cast marker, featuring high resolution maps, photographs and text on the obverse side. Some of these sites will eventually employ the latest technology to allow visitors to hear the sounds associated with the location. A detailed Blues Trail map will also be available that will provide driving directions, GPS coordinates and basic information for each site.
