You performed at Bo Diddley's memorial service in June. Did you know him personally and how much of an influence was he on your career?
Burdon: "Bo Diddley's memorial service was so uplifting, warm and joyful. I can only say that I hope and pray that I can give the last of me in a similar fashion. I never ever met Bo, not until his funeral. True to the world of traveling musicians, we missed each other like ships in the night. That's not to say I didn't understand him.
"His music let it be known what his true persona was: A big guy with a big heart. As real as his music. Bo taught me 'Don't stop for nothing. Just keep rockin'. Stand your ground.' He was a perfect gentleman at all times. He taught me to never lose my sense of humor."
