England swings to the sounds of US guitar greats

The influence on British rock stars of American musicians such as BO DIDDLEY, Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, Jimmy Reed, Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson and Howlin' Wolf, is acknowledged in a new permanent exhibition that opened March 2009 in London, England.

The British Music Experience at the 02 entertainment center in Greenwich is dedicated to the history of popular music in Britain. It features a retrospective look at the British music industry since 1946 and features a wide selection of content and experiences presented using a range of interactive media.

The exhibit covering the years 1962 to 1966 includes showcases on The Rolling Stones and on the popular British rhythm & blues groups of that era, including The Animals, The Who and The Yardbirds, all of whom recorded and performed songs in their formative years by American blues and soul greats.

Also in London, we send our best wishes to the Ballz Up Club, a new club night starting Thursday April 9th 2009 at The Last Days of Decadence, 145 Shoreditch High St., Hackney.

Host DJ Hoddy Nolder (sic) and guests Starvin' Spacedust and Dandy bring you rock & roll guitar madness, with records by artists including BO DIDDLEY, Mickey Baker, Chuck Berry, The Clash, New York Dolls, Pretty Things, Rolling Stones, The Stooges and ZZ Top. Also live rhythm & blues from Jake Vegas' Monkey's Uncle with Raven Isis Exotique Cabaret. Doors 9.30pm till 2.30am.
