BO DIDDLEY's original girl guitar player LADY BO plus record producer Marshall Chess will be celebrating BO DIDDLEY's musical legacy at the upcoming Ponderosa Stomp Foundation Music Conference held in New Orleans, LA later this month. There will also be a rare showing of director Gary A. Sherman's 1966 documentary movie "The Legend of Bo Diddley".
The 2nd annual Ponderosa Stomp Music Conference, held in conjunction with its two-night festival April 28th and 29th 2009 at the House of Blues, will take place from 11.00 am until 5.00pm, Monday-Wednesday April 27th, 28th and 29th inc. at the Louisiana State Museum’s historic Cabildo in Jackson Square, New Orleans.
The BO DIDDLEY session is scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday April 28th and will be recorded and donated for preservation in the archives of the Louisiana State Museum and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Those attending the Stomp Music Conference are asked to make a suggested donation of when they arrive. Donation also gets attendees entry to the Louisiana Music Exhibit (at the Cabildo; on display from April 27th until early August) which the Ponderosa Stomp worked to curate with The Louisiana State Museum and The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
Other notable performers speaking at this year's conference include Otis Clay, Dale Hawkins, Wanda Jackson and Question Mark (of ? & The Mysterians fame). The panels and oral histories will be presented by major music historians including American Routes host Nick Spitzer, renowned authors Peter Guralnick and Robert Gordon and Ira "Dr. Ike" Padnos, the Festival and Conference's mastermind, creator and producer of the Ponderosa Stomp.
