BO DIDDLEY: legacy marked in new exhibit, concert, cover version

A reworking of BO DIDDLEY's classic 1958 song "Dearest Darling" is the title track of chanteuse Jenni Muldaur's new album of vintage soul and jump blues tunes. Jenni is the daughter of musicians Geoff and Maria Muldaur and the tracks on her latest album reflect the music that she grew up with and loves. A number of tracks from the album, including her great version of "Dearest Darling", can currently be heard by visiting Jenni's MySpace, located at http://www.myspace.com/jennimuldaur

In other news, the impact and legacy of rock & roll and blues guitarists including BO DIDDLEY, Elmore James and Muddy Waters is explored in a special exhibition and concert event taking place later this month.

Beginning Friday April 24th 2009 thru Wednesday March 31st 2010, the Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, CA presents "ON! The Beginnings Of The Electric Sound Generation", a public special exhibition that presents rarely seen examples of early, electrified instruments built from 1900 to 1965.

The exhibition also includes a series of special events that showcase the sound and evolution of electrified musical instruments. These events include, on Friday April 24th 2009 at 8.00pm, "The Electric Effect" concert, in which San Diego-based artists Steve Bernstein, Robin Henkel, Steve Nichols and DeForest Thornburgh will walk the audience thru the history of electric sounds and tones, discussing and demonstrating the use of different electric effects in a variety of songs that made electric guitars cool. The artists will be performing swing, blues and rock & roll hits by guitarists including BO DIDDLEY and Muddy Waters with the use of period guitars, amplifiers and effects pedals. Tickets for the concert are $25; $20 for members.

"ON! The Beginnings Of The Electric Sound Generation" will be on display at the Museum of Making Music at 5790 Armada Drive in Carlsbad. General admission to the museum is $7; $5 for students, seniors and active military. Children age 5 and under receive free admission. The museum is open Tuesdays thru Sundays, 10.00am to 5.00pm, and is closed Mondays. For more information, visit their website at http://www.museumofmakingmusic.org/
