We are proud to announce that the Smithsonian Institution is to feature many items of BO DIDDLEY memorabilia and music, including his iconic hat, in a permanent collection to be located in a new wing of the Smithsonian devoted to African-American heritage and culture.
The National Museum of African-American History and Culture (NMAAHC) is to be located on the National Mall near the Washington Monument in Washington, DC. Construction of the NMAAHC is scheduled to begin in 2012 and completed in 2015.
The Smithsonian Institution is an educational and research institute and associated museum complex, administered and funded by the US Government and by funds from its endowment, contributions and profits from its shops and magazines. It currently has over 136 million items in its collections.
