Crossed Swords Film Festival/Park Ridge IL (NW Chicago suburb)

Hi Ty fans!

This Sunday, the Park Ridge Library (NW Chicago suburb) kicked off their "Crossed Swords" movie festival with Errol Flynn's Robin Hood.

Part of this swashbuckling festival will be Ty's Mark of Zorro (and they made a point of Ty's duel to the finish with Basil Rathbone as being one of the very best filmed in their program notes), and The Black Swan.

Mark of Zorro April 25 7:00 p.m.

The Black Swan May 16 7:00 p.m.

If you're in the Chicago area, come on over and root Ty on! They say these film festivals are very popular with people starting to line up as early as 6:00 p.m.

Wow, lucky you Melody! It's always a treat to see these on the big screen. Are you going to any of them?

Re: Crossed Swords Film Festival/Park Ridge IL (NW Chicago suburb)

I'll try to do whatever I can--I was very happy to see Ty remembered and included with good commentary on both movies.

Another note--The Robe

The Robe was on TCM last night and Robert Osborne did note that Ty was first to have the part offered to him by Zanuck, but I didn't know that RKO originally owed the rights and was going to use Gregory Peck as Tribune Gallio.

As I watched the movie, I kept thinking of Ty in it--still believe that he and Jean Simmons with their dark coloring would have made a great couple on screen. Well, I do understand where Ty was in his career at that time. Being on stage and being respected meant very much to him.
