Where was this letter seen? Do you have it? Tyrone Power Esq. November 2, 1798-March 13, 1841. He went down on the steamship U.S. President. The ship was weighted down with a lot of cargo. Also a very bad storm. I'm looking for his letters, lithographs anything on him. Thank You for remembering him. I end this with 4 lines from Tyrone Power Esq. last poem. ~ The sun that shone upon their paths ~ Now gilds their lonely graves. ~ The zephyrs which once fanned their brows ~ The grass above them waves. ~
The letter excerpt was from a biography done by his friend, J. W. Calcraft, in 1852, Dublin University Magazine.
Yeah, the President was weighed down. . . the main cargo of cotton bales. Imagine being dragged down by that weight when soaked.
Ah, I recognize the part of his poem you highlighted. Do you know if the wooden tablet on which this poem was written upon yet exists at the Blanford church grounds and/or has been salvaged/preserved?
