I read this article with considerable interest, particularly the bit about U2 spy planes landing at Northolt. I lived in Dartmouth Road from circa 1947 to 1964. As a young lad during the early '50's I was fascinated by the aircraft landing at Northolt and could plane-spot easily as the final approach to the main runway was clearly visible from my back garden. I was quite good at aircraft identification but certainly cannot recall ever seeing anything that even resembled a U2 spy plane. Does anyone remember seeing such a distintive aircraft at Notholt?
The U2 would not land at Northolt very often. They only landed at night and stayed a couple of hours and departed before sunrise.
