Cool Weather

I will always remember the meter we had in the house that I and my 2 fellow roomates rented near the base in Ruislip Gardens. Had to feed it 1 schilling to heat the water of course it took several to keep the water or heaters warm.. Also used parafin heaters. Mid 60's were a great time to be stationed there at the the Hospital there. Would like to hear from anyone stationed at the 7520 or any of the civilians who worked on base.

Re: Cool Weather

For some reason I was feeling nostalgic today and decided to look up South Ruislip on the internet. I know little of South Rusilip. I was born there on base in January of 1965. Don't know if you knew my father or not (he passed away 6 1/2 years ago). He and my mother moved there in 1963 or 64 I believe. I think he advanced to SSGT before we left in 68 and moved to Colorado Springs. Some of the families we were there with were the Bransons and Walkers (I'll have to ask my mother who else) - we actually visited back in 75 when we were staitoned in Stuttgart. Any other memories you could pass along?! I know little of the place (being I was three when we left) other than from old pictures.... thanks!!

Re: Cool Weather

Feeding the meter. That brings back memories. I was only a child but cane remember Mom & Dad joking about feeding the meter to get hot water and heat. Great time were had by all.Peggy
