You can do what a local woman in Hampton did when she discovered an unattended/forgotten cemetary in Hampton. She contacted her delegate on the City Council, the local newspaper, WAVY-10 On Your Side. This stirred up publicity that the residents rose up in her behalf that the City Council had to act. Also, she raised funds to have the site cleaned and had enough to hire a company to keep the site clear for quite some time.

Also, you can visit the State's Library in Richmond and obtain information on your local Genealogical Society. Contact them with your information.
