Yes and I think you need to read some history. Derry was not "renamed" it was rebuilt. Derry or Doire was founded by Doire Calgach a Scottish Chieftan who ruled the area. It was in ruins and was rebuilt and funded by the London livery companies hence the name Londonderry. I have seen maps also with "County Derry" which is even sillier since there never was a County Derry. It was County Coleraine, later renamed to County Londonderry but with the addition of parts of other counties to form the new county Londonderry.

Secondly most of the "foreign" Army are Ulstermen born and bred. Royal Irish Regiment and indeed men from the Republic of Ireland.
