I think that your right about looking for answers, and I think nihilism is a good start. Maybe there is no meaning to why we are here and the universe is basically utter chaos. But that gives us the freedom of choice. If there is no set path or destiny, we have the power to create our own miracles and good works in life. This idea is from "Übermensch" by Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche. He talks about rejecting morals and old traditions to form a perfectly objective point of view. Then YOU can decide what is right or wrong, and not be influenced by fear or other people.
