I've got a gap/brick wall, advice?

Working up for full membership and I have a "break" in documentation sources. Early 1800s, when there was a movement West from the traditional family lands around Lassomption to Essex Ontario this would be the 5th generation. the 6th down to the present 8th generation is all well documented with original papers still in the family.

I can find from my original ancestors; from the Carignan-Salières Regiment; Martel, Honoré (La Montagne), (Berthier/L'Allier/Lignières ). And from des Filles du roi, Marguerite L'ADMIRAUT. I am their 7th Great Granddaughter.

I have confirmed much information for generation 4 and earlier with other descendants when we start comparing lineage and genealogy reports.

I'd like to make a trip up to Ontario and the North Shore to check out existing records.

Any advice from those that have overcome similar "blocks" would be helpful.
