Who is Brenda Edmonds and what is her background? Can 98 votes or 26% of the total votes cast (383) get you elected?

Will there be a run off? Don't they have to get 50% plus 1 vote for a simple majority or is 26% all that is needed for a win?????

98 votes for Edmonds and 285 not??? Shouldn't the major (383 x 50% = 192+1= 193) rule????

That is Brenda Shemayme Edwards, not Edmonds. She is almost full blood Caddo...both mother and father were Caddo.
She is a sharp intellegent Caddo, who was brought up in a traditional way and knows our Caddo history.

She is tough and attended college. She will stand up for what she believes in and she is honest. She will work for the best interest of our people.

She tries to look at both sides of a question and she, like everyone, makes mistakes - like when she voted to remove me from the council!

The good thing about Brenda is - she has the support of good people who will give her advice. She will listen and hopefully make the right decisions. She will be a good leader.

I agree with the Banana Republic comment but its not directed towards Brenda, she will be good anything is better than what we have had the last ten years. What I want to know is who are all the dumbs butts who voted for Barr- they essentially elected a person who abused her authority as eduction director and sent her son a lot more money than he should have got, the council then with held her final check bt she still owes money. So.. this person is supposed to keep track of our funds-WHAT IDIOTS
Thank goodness we can recall- cause she will not be in there long. I won't let her- my daughter got denied a grant when she was director because of lack of funding but her son got five times the amount. NO way not gonna happen,

it looks like you haven't pulled up the official website for the Caddo Nation. I guess you don't have much to do with anyone or you would know a little more than it shows you do. No, there is no reason for a run off.

The constitution needs to be changed to not reflect just who got the most votes. No reflection on Brenda Edwards. She won fair & square. Hopefully this will be addressed to be "majority plus 1" in the future.

Brends Shemayme voted for the present gaming company the tribe is having so much trouble with. And she voted to keep Grellner gaming attorney. Maybe as chairman she will get better advice and actually meet with NIGC and other agencies. Hope she reads the constitution well and gets excellent legal advice from objective people. She probably means to represent us, but will she have an open government like some candidates pushed for? Will she post meeting dates and agendas, and put the minutes on the website? If she does this she will go a long way toward a transparent government for all Caddos. She doesn't have the experience or education but if she is smart, she can learn. We are hopeful.

Caddo Also, the present gaming company was on board when Brenda came on board. Yes, she voted to keep them, just as I did, because Mr. Shunook (sp) said he had the money, and possibly at that time he did, the economy fell out and lots of people either lost money or watched where it went much closer.

And yes, she voted to keep Grellner, again just as I did. Don't know her reason, mine, to hire another attorney after all that has gone on, land acquisition, construction, right-of-ways, bridges, etc., we would have been paying two attornies, the one we hired and Mr. Grellner to inform and show the other attorney where we were at and what we had done.

I have not always believed in Mr. Grellner, even at this point am not sure. Am sure of one thing, he was tops on Ms. Parkers list forever, then all of a sudden, makes one wonder. He was terminated by the Council 5, then rehired by Ms. Parker when she got control again. The BIA has messed around with us pretty good, know they are, and should, look out for the interest of the minors involved. However, Tippiconnie and Parker have always been good buddies and makes one wonder who called in and gave the BIA the wrong information to halt the construction on the project. Probably was within spitting distance, Parker wanted Mr. Flipping and his wife involved in all this.

I have had, especially several men, including one or two of my brothers say "we had ten years of a woman chairman we don't need another". Hackles up, lets don't compare oranges and apples, and that is what it is.

Brenda, like the rest of us probably needs to read the constitution more, know without a doubt she will do nothing to violate it as has been done in the past.

I believe very strongly that Brenda will be as open and transparent as she can be. I believe things most certainly will be done differently, for one thing, she will be at the office taking care of business, that will be a big change.

When you say she does not have experience, four years of experience is considerable, especially when you learn it takes watching from all sides to be sure you are "finally" reading people right and doing the right thing for the Caddo people. She is very bright and listens and takes care of whatever problems come before her. Think we have a winner here and she will need all our help.

As far as education, think she has some college behind her, am not sure how much. Believe education is important, however, I have a degree in business administration but believe my years of experience, both while on the council and involved with the council have helped me, probably, to understand what needs to be done and how to work at getting it done.

This is lengthy but think the Caddo Tribe is going to be moving up. We deserve it, we have been going down too long.

I don't think the tribal server has the capacity to place minutes on the website. I was told if I wanted the minutes I would have to contact the Chairman's secretary. I haven't yet. where would you like the agenda posted? From what I can tell Brenda will make an excellent Chairman. It's my opinion that our
Chirman has worked hand in hand with Tipiconnie to slow the progress of the Caddo Casino because they are such good friends. What better expiernce can someone have after having served on the Council because that's the only way to see how things work with tribes. It isn't like the outside world!
