Back belts

For which exercises back belt must be used? Is is absolutely necessary? Plz help.

Actually there is a controversial issue, according to some experts they actually weaken your lower back, so you don't need them for low weights. But they are a must if heavier weights are used. As a general rule.....you MUST use belts when


i) you are required to bend forward


ii) you are also using some weight.


For example, for barbell curls.....you don't need them if your form is good and you are using moderate weights. But for exercises like deadlifts, barbell/dumbell rows, squats etc you should use the belts (even if you are using light weights, as a preventive measure).
