Re: GREAT Britain

Hi lads,
I agree with you, like thousands of others I enjoyed all the Olympic Games coverage that I saw, and that was a lot, - but I can’t say that Fencing is my idea of a spectator sport. - The country, the organisers, the volunteers and of course the athletes have done us proud. Congratulations to all of them, even those who didn’t win a medal but sometimes beat their previous personal best. And all those Union Flags being waved, very heart-warming even though some of them were displayed the wrong way up.
Reading some newspapers before the games I got the impression that three countries, and I’m not frightened to name them, America, France and Germany, were predicting and quietly hoping that the games would be a disaster. It was great to stuff them and produce a fantastic show which proved them wrong.
Going on a different tack, (you can tell I was watching the sailing at Weymouth. Wasn’t the sea a good colour? Almost like the Mediterranean.)
Watching the athletes and hearing about the amount of hard training and agony they put themselves through only strengthens my opinion that many of today’s so-called footballers are egotistic, greedy, over-rated and over-paid wimps. They could learn a thing or two from some of our athletes.
Dick.
