Re: Royal Signals Trade Training

Hi! Harry-Lads,
Although I was in the RAF,I did go to Catterick with several others to do a wireless operators course,a sandwich course they said, but I was hard pressed to learn how to operate a 19 set,and send morse messagesin the time we had.I got quite good at the morse, but never got a lot of opportunities to use it in the Zone. The idea was that we had a wireless set in one of the trucks so we could send for help if we needed it in a hurry. We mixed with the Signals lads, and I remember we kept tapping out the morse code with our spoons on the Mess wall while waiting for grub up.You could swear all you wanted to,without anyone bothering, but not when the Foreman of signals was about.Take care lads keep well

God Bless
Tony
