Don\'t know if you remember me--I was the Honors Librarian at Penn State and went along as the adviser for the research end of the trip. I remember your British comedy research project! I'm watching ''Cheers.'' John Cleese is on, and the blurb said he won an Emmy for this...

I decided to search for the event you mention here - that I attended back then.

I couldn't remember who was there, though! I liked Monty Python, but was not a fan(atic). I didn't think it was John Cleese, but I couldn't remember who it was...thanks for this interesting site :)

I do remember something Graham Chapman said. He mentioned something about drinking or alcohol, and the crowd cheered. He looked a little stunned. He chided the students, saying that something along the lines that they best be careful with alcohol, that it caused a lot of problems. Will never ever forget that.

I so miss PSU at times. What a great place it can be.

I ran across your blog about the red "V" you were born with. I was too! I never knew there were superstitions associating it with the mark of the devil in some cultures, though I'm curious to know which ones those are.

You baby pictures are adorable. Mine don't seem to show my V off at all. Growing up, though I had curly hair it seems my mom managed banged or I forced them all the way up into my 30's. Because of this I completely forgot about the "V" I carried on and off growing up.

in the past 2 years the "V" has made a vengeful comeback and it has become a permanent fixture. Nothing more annoying than someone coming up to you and saying, "You know, you have a red V on your forehead."

What to do, what to do.

Looking for Graham Chapman stuff

I just wanted to mention that as an undergrad at the University of Delaware in 1981 (October, I believe), Graham Chapman came on a college tour. He showed up at the Bookstore as he was selling his autobiography at the time. It was weird, I was the first to actually recognize him. He was with his son and was wearing a black, members-only type jacket. The University bookstore was completely oblivious about organizing these things. He was standing around and people were like, "is that him or not?". I walked up to him, shook his hand and said that I loved his work. He signed my Monty Python Big Red book and then the lined formed behind me. He gave a presentation that night at the Student Center Bacchus theater. I was devastated when he passed away.

Anyway, I saw your site and thought you may get some solace from knowing that he had been around in the area a bit earlier.
