Awesome job Mark, I’ve enjoyed your website as well as all of your raceboat videos. I’m a big Donzi fan, same family as the Nova’s.

I started work for the UK Bertram Dealer in 1962 and helped with the Cowes - Torquay Bertram Race Boats. I met sam Griffiths and Jim Wynne and Walt Walters.
Dick Bertram invited me to work in Miami in 1965.

I met Fred Darwick who had an early Donzi 16 and then met Don Aranow and the others on your site.

For a while, we owned an AVENGER 21 designed by Don Shead.

I have owned Nova 24's and am quite a fan. had no idea of the history but really exciting stuff First thought would be the shaft boats would naturally ride flatter in heavy water and perform better than outdrive boats although would not perform as well in flat water Great stuff

They are great boats. Sure would like to see some of those old pictures. Also do you know who you sold it to. We may know where it is. If not maybe we can find it.
Thanks for checking us out.

I HAD A SUPER NOVE 19 FOR 13 YEARS. IT HAD A HOLMAN MOODY 351 FORD WITH A VOLVO DRIVE. I MOVED UP TO A LARGER TWIN ENGINE WELLCRAFT AND WISH I KEPT THE NOVA. I HAVE A LOT OF GREAT PHOTOS OF IT. IT WAS SO GOOD I TOOK OT FROM STONEY POINT NY TO MONTREAL BY WATER TWICE.

Mark, Great site. My family had a 1977 250 Nova with twin merc 188 hp. up until the mid 80's what a great boat! I now have a 1968 Maritime Climax 1600 that I have been restoring for several years. How can I get in touch with the guy who is restoring the old Thunderbird race boat? Talk about lack of info and lost history I only know of one other restored Maritime performance hull and always looking for others and owners to talk to. Let me know. Thanks, Kevin

You all humble me with your kind words. I do it because it is deserved and needed to be done. These boats are a lost treasure that if you drove one you would have to have one.
Thank You All Again.

Never knew there was a Nova 19, I had a Nova 24 with twin 351 V Drives. It was quite a tank and the windshield was too big. Got it in good running condition and traded it for a 21 Baker Tunnel hull outboard. Your 19 is gorgeous but they needed to rethink those windshield. When I saw this it really brought a smile to my face.
