Which Terminal Does Ryanair Use at Manchester Airport?

As of the latest updates, Ryanair operates out of Terminal 3 at Manchester Airport. Terminal 3 is the smallest of the three terminals but remains busy due to the number of short-haul and low-cost carriers it accommodates. Alongside Ryanair, other airlines operating out of T3 include British Airways and Aer Lingus.

Why Terminal 3?
Terminal 3 is ideally suited for Ryanair's operations because it caters primarily to budget and regional airlines. The terminal's layout allows for efficient boarding and quick aircraft turnaround, aligning well with Ryanair's low-cost, high-efficiency business model.

Terminal 3 Overview
Terminal 3 was opened in 1989 and has since been expanded and modernized to meet growing passenger demands. Although it's the smallest terminal at Manchester Airport, it is equipped with all the essentials:

Check-in desks

Security screening

Departure lounges

Duty-free and retail outlets

Food and drink options

Car hire and transport facilities

The terminal is compact, so walking distances are shorter compared to larger international terminals — a bonus for travelers in a hurry.

Ryanair Check-in and Baggage at Terminal 3
Online Check-in
Ryanair encourages online check-in via its website or mobile app. You can check in from 24 hours to 2 hours before your scheduled departure. Boarding passes must be printed or saved on your mobile device.

Bag Drop
If you’re traveling with checked luggage, you can drop your bags at the Ryanair counters located on the ground floor of Terminal 3. It’s advisable to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before departure to ensure you have enough time to clear security and reach your gate.

Baggage Allowance
Cabin Bag: One small personal bag (40x20x25 cm) included with standard fare.

Priority Passengers: Additional cabin bag (55x40x20 cm) up to 10kg.

Checked Bag: 10kg or 20kg options available for purchase.

Ensure your bags meet Ryanair’s strict size and weight limits to avoid additional fees at the airport.

Security Screening at Terminal 3
Once you’ve checked in and dropped your bags, proceed to the security screening area, also on the ground floor. Terminal 3 features automated eGates and advanced scanning technology to expedite the process. However, during peak travel times, queues can form — so early arrival is always wise.

Prohibited items, liquid restrictions (100ml per container), and laptop removal still apply, so be prepared to follow standard airport security protocols.
