Standard in Sunderland

Hello.
Public Notices are usually printed in numerous places so I make no apology for entering this notice which is copied from the Notice Board page on the www.sunsandcanal.co.uk website.
The more people who know about this event the happier we will be

:speaking_head_in_silhouette:
THE ASSOCIATION STANDARD

The final final, event of the Suez Veterans' Association will be the Laying-Up of the Association Standard.
This will be on the afternoon of Sunday 29th March 2020 at Sunderland Minster.
Arrangments are going ahead with this event and more details will be added here when they are available.

The arrangements are coming along nicely, the Standard Bearer will have four escorts and an Officer supplied by the
Lancashire Fusiliers. (They did serve in the Canal Zone.)
We are well into sorting out the Order of Service with the Minster Provost, and refreshments will be served after the Service. Are you coming? It will be good to see you there.

If you are thinking of attending this service, would you please let me, or Cedric Barker know.
This will give us an idea of how many people to cater for.
My e-mail address at the foot of the page, Cedric's phone number: 01253 867 686

Some members (including myself and Liz) have already booked in at the Sunderland City Centre
Premier Inn, 1-3 Hind Street, Sunderland, SR1 3QD, for either one or two nights, will you join us? -
A bit of a reunion perhaps.

(n.b. This is not a recommendation of the hotel, it was picked from the Internet as being close to the Minster.)

My best wishes to everyone.
Richard.

Re: Standard in Sunderland

We regret that the Laying-up Service of the SVA Standard at Sunderland Minster has been postponed because of the swift spread of the coronavirus. As we don't know what is going to happen, or what the situation would be, in a few weeks time, we thought this would be the safest action.
It will upset some peoples plans for that weekend, and hotel bookings be cancelled, and for this we apologise.
The Service will take place sometime in the future when things are not so threatening, details will be put on this Forum.

In the meantime, I wish everyone good health.
Richard. :persevere:
