13 Years and 12 hours from right now your family and the family and friends of the rest of us whose fate changed by stopping to help on the Florida Turnpike, changed FOREVER. This date haunts me EVERY year and the event haunts me the other 364 days in the year. I wonder why you can't still be here to make a difference and continue to bring new lives into this world with your father by your side, you wife and boys home to greet you when you come home, your brothers and their family around to give you a hard time and your many friends and other family to share your love with. I know you shower your love from above in Heaven. It was an honor to serve with you, even though for a couple of minutes. I look forward to meeting you when it is my time to be in Heaven. I'm sending prayers to your family, friends and patients! High Five fore Jesus towards Heaven just for you and Shane today!!!!

I watched the episode of Maternity Ward that featured Don and his father. Throughout the programme I was saying to myself, what a wonderful, gentle, bright and kind young man. When his father appeared, I thought how lucky they were and what a team they made. Then I saw the family and again, my thoughts were how blessed you all were. When it was then announced that Don had been killed in an accident, I actually gasped out in loud in horror. It has been 12 years for all of you but I imagine it feels like yesterday. How fortunate you were that Don was in your lives but for a short time. God Bless you all. x

while watching this show and watching Dr Diebel work, I\'m thinking, what a great doctor he is, I wish I\'d had someone like him 33 yrs ago and then they tell of his passing.. I don\'t know him, I\'ve never seen him before on this show and yet I broke down and cried, like it just happened and he was a friend. 11 yrs later and just from a show, he touched me and all I can think is he\'s watching over those boys he was so proud of and I think GOD sent him here to deliver babies that are gonna be special. To his family, prayers on his lost, but what a special person GOD loaned to this world and you got to call him family

I was a scurb tech in Honduras with Donny before he became a Dr...only in name because Donny was caring, attentive, compassionate and confident, true Dr qualities. I remember he would go visit the children in pre-op. His face lit up and his grin was so big you couldn\'t make out any other features. Imagine what those kids saw, in walks a big grin! The kids who could, swarmed toward Donny and he looked into their eyes and they just clinged to him. I\'m not surprised to know Donny lost his life helping others. I will be forever touched by Donny\'s countenance.

11 years as of yesterday, I remember the story of the accident in the local Orlando media and knew of the office on Clay Street, in Winter Park, FL. Just remembering how much everyone had NOTHING but kind words about Don and that his stopping to assist that day was exactly what anyone would have thought he would have done. Hard to believe that this much time has passed and I still think of the accident when I travel the FL Turnpike to Stone Mountain, GA for vacations. Every time I approach the accident scene, I shout out a \"hello angels\" to Don & Shane.

I\'m sure the young boys of Dr. Diebel & Karen, who lost their father unexpectedly are now growing into fine young men.

I\'ve just watched an episode of Maternity Ward. I was touched by Don, his manor, love of family, and his feelings about working with his dad. I couldn\'t have guessed the end of the show would bring such sad news. The accident was so long ago but my heart is so saddened today. I pray for you all...

As the anniversary of our accident approaches the 10th year next week, once again I find myself thinking of Don, Shane, those of us who were injured and lived, the family of Don & Shane, spcifically Don's wife, boys, father, mother, and siblings, other good samaritans who stopped to help after the 2nd accident, and all others who were affected on the FL turnpike on June 8, 2002. I always wonder if I am the only one who has this on their mind. Posting on Don's site, in addition to praying, is one of the only ways I know to pay tribute to everyone. I will NEVER EVER forget Karen visiting me in the hospital the day of Don's Funeral and some of her last words to me were something like don't give up and please continue to live and fight for Don's sake. I have NEVER forgotten those words as sometimes it is what gets me through really hard days. I pray that God will Continue to allow Don to watch over everyone and may God allow the strength from within his family continue to radiate through their eeryday lives in order to create a peaceful soul from within.

i have been watching maternity ward on tv all this week and have been thinking what a fab dr don is, then on the last one i saw he had died, i just cant believe it and so long ago, his wife, kids family must be soooo very proud. i wish you well x Cathy F

I've seen that episode twice. So sad, still makes tears to my eyes. I feel this was so unfair even i do know life sometimes is. Can't understand. So helpful, so kind and funny Man. Life goes on but no-one can take Your memories...all the best for the family even this happened years ago...
