Re: The green blanket

Hi Robert,

The only time I was issued with a green lightweight blanket was in Malaya in 1947-1949 and I had them tailored into a pair of trousers, needless to say I had to pay for them through barrack room damages, ha ha those were the days, we were also issued the cloth holdall with toothbrush, razor, comb, soapbox, toothpaste, small round cylindrical tin to hold 5 cigarettes (waterproof),Tommy tank lighter with the broad arrow stamped on it and knife fork and spoon and two aluminium plates, only drawback handed in Greatcoat and battledress and when came to come back to England they never had a decent fit for me, so looked like Sad Sack on the trooper Windrush when I came back, were not impressed at next unit either.
