William James (Jay) McDowall, RASC.

Suez Veteran William James McDowall (known as 'Jay'), passed away on August 5, 2017 at Stranraer, Scotland. RIP.

To the best of my knowledge, Jay, an SVA member was rarely, if ever a contributor to this Forum but as many other 'silent' Vets he may have followed some of the topics.

In 2017, actual participation in this Forum has dwindled to barely a trickle; currently there appear to be only five or six Vets who can be considered regular CONTRIBUTORS whereas research indicates that on occasions, more than twenty times that number 'look in' to certain topics but are never sufficiently interested to respond.

Is it time, I wonder, to do the decent thing and put up the shutters?

In the words of the immortal Syd Walker: "What would you do Chums?"
